Stickless

Stickless - Julien Decaudin

Last time I went to the London British Museum I found more interesting to sketch living people rather than static museum pieces. I saw this quiet old woman sitting and waiting for something and, maybe because of all these rushing tourists around, I decide to give her a kind of rejuvenation cure.

I didn’t know what to do with a running grandma sketch but, at least, I colorized and cleaned it up in Photoshop. Then I think about what is the first thing coming to me when I think “old people” and I thought: a stick. I choosed a black background as it makes the woman poping out.

So, I got a running person, a comma-like shape – the stick -, and a black background. Well, Nike ads? Why not. So I add this brand-like logo “Stickless”. I tried to add a slogan but I’m definitely not a copywriter!

I think old people are definitely  a great inspiration source for sketching. Certainly something to do with their complex physical properties and interesting human expressions…
